Description
A painting inspired by the ballad "Lenore", written in 1774.The ballad is about a girl called Lenore whose betrothed, a young soldier named Wilhelm, did not come home from the Battle of Prague. So everyone was sure he was dead, and Lenore cursed God and the saints for letting him die.
But one night, someone knocked at her door and said he would take her to the wedding now: it was Wilhelm who everybody had thought was dead. Of course Lenore agreed to come with him, though it was almost midnight. So they rode on his horse for hours, until the first sunrays of dusk were visible through the tree branches.
At this point, Wilhelm turned his head to Lenore, and terrified, she saw that it was no more than a pale skull.

I agree with Gillan that this would do a great poster or cd cover.
The composition is very nice. The story telling in the picture is great. The characters are very well drawn, the horse is also very good. I like the expression of the girl, you did a great work on that. The colours are superb and the colouring is great, I specially like the bcakground and how you did the horses legs with that "outline" in a ligth colour. Finally, the texture in the dress is fantastic and it's great how the edges of the picture blur a bit! +9

I ´m really impressed, how you have managed to let two people riding a horse
look that right. Äh, one woman and a dead.
Very well chosen colours and great work on fabrics.
Definately one of your best.
